Job Summary

Provide comprehensive preventative and therapeutic nursing care in an ambulatory health care setting and responsible for staffing and scheduling of nurses in the medical clinic. All duties and responsibilities will be performed in accordance with the Yellowhawk Mission and Vision statements.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. In collaboration with the Clinical Director, recruits and supervises the orientation and training of clinical personnel.
  2. Develops and implements clinical policies and procedures.
  3. Evaluates, counsels and promotes the growth and development of the clinical staff.
  4. Provides nursing care.
  5. Responsible for staffing and scheduling of nurses in medical clinic.
  6. Oversees staff in-service and external educational program.
  7. Works with staff development to coordinate interdisciplinary opportunities for staff and students.
  8. Evaluates the effectiveness of services provided, and in collaboration with staff, implements improved techniques and methods consistent with national trends in the delivery of care.
  9. Maintains awareness of long and short term goals of YTHC and Indian Health Service (IHS) health system and recognizes opportunities for potential involvement in new service areas.
  10. Plans, directs and/or participates in the development of new treatment services.
  11. Serves on intra-department and special task forces as appropriate.
  12. Plans, organizes and presents in-service programs.
  13. Works with clinical and clerical staff to plan, direct and/or participate in YTHC initiatives.
  14. Coordinates, develops and maintains quality assurance and program evaluation system.
  15. Responsible for identifying and promoting continuous quality improvement of systems that improve care for patients and improve efficiency of service at YTHC.
  16. Establishes and maintains relationships with all referring physicians, hospitals, Urgent Care and clinics.
  17. Serves as a catalyst for implementing a comprehensive team approach to the delivery of care and treatment.
  18. Consults with and advises the Clinical Director and operations regarding needs, goals, future plans and problems pertinent to clinical programs.
  19. Establishes work objectives for the ambulatory clinic, determines short- and long-range goals, and plans and implements strategies to achieve goals.
  20. Collaborates with the Clinical Director on strategic initiatives to establish and achieve goals, supports operational practices, procedures, and standards for the organization and manages performance pertinent to the delivery of care.
  21. Assists in developing overall work objectives, determining short- and long-range goals, and planning and implementing strategies to achieve goals.
  22. Assures staff complies with safety and health policies and procedures.
  23. Maintains staff productivity to budgeted standards.
  24. Participates actively in clinical affairs to enhance the visibility and status of the clinic on a local, state, regional and national level.
  25. Develops professional competence through participation in continuing educational program.
  26. Other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Mininum Qualifications:

  1. Graduation from an accredited technical school of nursing; ADN or BSN required.
  2. Current license as a Registered Nurse.
  3. Current BLS certification.
  4. Two (2) years of ambulatory care nursing experience or emergency/urgent care experience.
  5. Two (2) years of supervisory experience; nursing supervisor experience preferred.
  6. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a positive, effective manner.
  7. Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain insurance requirements to operate General Services Administration vehicles.
  8. Must submit to and pass a reference and criminal background check.
  9. Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
  10. Must submit proof of COVID vaccination.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Knowledge of history, culture and health needs of American Indian/Alaska Native communities preferred.
