Description

SUMMARY

Performs CMM programming, CMM set-up, inspection, develops CMM inspection methods and performs and or schedules required preventative maintenance for CMM’s to optimize inspection support for both new and existing tooling and products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following:

Conducts and presents themselves in a professional manner working with compliance to the current APG business policies and procedures.

Performs CMM programming, CMM set-up, inspection, and employee training to effectively support the CMM inspection for both new and existing tooling and products manufactured.

Works within a team environment supporting Continuous Improvement and Practical Problem-Solving initiatives when required. This includes Advanced Product Quality Planning support to identify and communicate any CMM measurement needs or limitations during new product development.

Performs annual Production Part Approval Process layouts were dictated by Customer Specific Requirements.

Monitors and manages the annual layout inspection process to assure timely completion of layout within the CSR’s.

Duties of this role also includes the ability to perform all the duties of a Lab Technician - Class B when required.

Ability to learn and perform and provide back up support for gage calibration system duties as required

Ability to learn and perform Non-Conforming Material process to assist in disposition, sorting coordination and flow of non-conforming materials and provide back up support as required.

Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Training and certification in Zeiss Calypso, Quindos, or other CMM software or a minimum of three years’ experience programming CMM’s in a metrology environment.

Strong Blueprint reading and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing knowledge with functional application to the manufacturing process and measurement application.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as rate, ratio, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must be willing to attend training classes, seminars, and certification courses at the Company's request. Must possess exceptional computer skills. Must possess good people and communication skills, be self-motivated, and self-driven with the ability to multi-task.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the production floor is usually loud and moderate in the Quality Assurance Department.
