General Purpose

Working under close supervision this position will perform minor to average routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assist in keeping the shop & yard clean and orderly
  • Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
  • Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
  • Replaces defective components as instructed
  • Performs facility maintenance duties
  • Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
  • Utilizes Fleet Management software to generate repair orders
  • Washing equipment, sweeping shop, snow removal, taking care of trash and assisting mechanics in cleanliness of the shop
  • Pick up and deliver parts from vendors to the shop
  • Shuttle employees and equipment as requested

Other Duties/Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Employees are held accountable for all duties of this job.

 
Position Requirements

Experience:

  • Experience working in a shop setting desired with some mechanical aptitude preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year to year basis

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

  • A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A is preferred
  • Department of Transportation (DOT) physical certification is required
  • Candidates must pass Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, a DOT regulated physical as a requirement of the job and pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Education or Formal Training:

  • HS Diploma or GED
