Front Desk Officer 

Description

Position held by a Sworn Police officer certified by Georgia Post Council capable of full duty and able to carry out duties of a police officer. Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of duties involved in the enforcement of laws and the prevention of crimes; controls traffic flow and enforces state and local traffic regulations; issues citations; participates in and conducts a variety of criminal investigations; makes arrests; provides support and assistance to special crime prevention and law enforcement programs; and performs a variety of technical and administrative tasks in support of law enforcement services and activities.

Handles law enforcement related duties for walk-up complaints or phone call request for police services, creates police reports and other duties assigned.

Makes corrections to motor vehicle crash reports (i.e. correct insurance policy numbers), reviews police reports and provides copies as needed.

Understands and uses agency's electronic reporting system to ensure full compliance with GEARS (Georgia Electronic Accident Reporting System)

Accepts all complaints and commendations from citizens to be properly submitted to professional standards.

Performs fingerprinting for alcohol license, municipal court, police applicants or any other required fingerprinting authorized.

Reviews RedSpeed traffic enforcement violations and verifies the infraction.

Reviews, researches, and collects all data, information videos regarding for open records requests (ORR) and submits the data to the proper entity.

 
Position Requirements

Must have a high school diploma

Be a sworn officer the GPOST (peace officer standards and council)

Must have typing skills and be capable of using standard office equipment.

Must have capability of dealing effectively with public.

Good communications skills a must.

Must be able to maintain security and confidentiality of all information

Assist public in getting reports, obtaining information, Court Dispositions, Suspension Releases, Clearing Reports, Background checks, open records request, etc.

 
Physical/Environmental Requirements Mobility to work in typical office settings using standard office equipment is required. In addition, vision to read printed materials and computer screen and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone and other duties assigned.
