The RN position is needed to administer the fundamentals of the nursing process, contribute to nursing assessment and participate in the evaluation of nursing care. In addition to Internal Medicine duties, oftentimes assistance with non-surgical orthopedic and aesthetic services will be necessary.

On an average day, you will:

  • Supports nursing care standards through adherence to practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations
  • Rooms and prepares patients for physicians examination, assisting with examination as directed
  • Obtains and documents nursing history from patients and/or significant others that is comprehensive of present condition and prior problems
  • Educates patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions
  • Executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administers prescribed medications, and monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response
  • Schedules patient procedures as requested by the physician. Facilitates authorizations and referrals for managed care patients where indicated
  • Accurately relays prescription refill information to local and mail order pharmacies via phone, fax or e-prescription functions as directed by the physician/physician extender and refill protocols
  • Promotes wellness by providing patient education materials, and communicating physician advice/instructions
  • Provides leadership and supervision to licensed practical nurses, nursing aides, and assistants
  • Assumes responsibility for professional growth by current reading and attendance at educational programs and unit conferences
  • Supervises care given by nonprofessional staff and provides instruction as needed
 
Position Requirements

To qualify for this job you must have:

  • Exceptional clinical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow OSHA safety guidelines and privacy policies
  • Strong computer literacy with EHR experience
  • Three years of recent medical office experience in primary care
  • Current NC state licensure required (RN)
  • Current BLS certification


We’d also love it if you have:

  • Time management, problem solving, multitasking, prioritizing, and medical care coordination skills
  • Familiarity with health care systems, regulations, policies, and functions
  • Experience working in primary care
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Current ACLS certification

 

Physical requirements and work environment: 

  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching
  • Must be able to support at least 75 pounds to reposition, transfer, and ambulate patients safely
  • Fine motor skills
  • Visual acuity
