Description

The Music Therapist is responsible to provide client and family-centred therapy services to children and adolescents and their families who are receiving rehabilitation services.

Schedule: Must be available to work at least one weekday during after-school/evening hours (Monday through Friday) and Saturdays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides music therapy to Holland Bloorview fee-for-service clients
  • Provides music therapy assessment and intervention, which is client and family-centred, goal directed, evidence-based and outcome focused
  • Bases practice on established best practices
  • Adherence to documentation as per Holland Bloorview documentation standards and policies
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings and special events
  • Participates in quality management activities and supports the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment
  • Identifies learning needs and establishes goals
  • Provides student supervision
  • Volunteer supervision as required
  • Participates in research activities as applicable
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Master of Music Therapy preferred
  • Certification and member in good standing with the CAMT (Canadian Association for Music Therapy)
  • Registration and member in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with practical music therapy preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in paediatrics preferred
  • Knowledge of music therapy theory and music pedagogy and application of said knowledge to pediatric special needs population
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of music therapy techniques
  • Experience in behaviour management preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment
  • Reliable, punctual, regular attendance
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • CAMT and CRPO-approved supervisor preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a diverse workload while setting priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to operate independently as well as in consultation and collaboration with other professionals within a multidisciplinary team
