Assessment Student Assistant
Definition and Purpose
Under supervision of the Interim Director – University Union, the Assessment Student Assistant is responsible for assisting with the design, structure, testing, editing, scheduling, launching, and assessment of ASI surveys and assessment tools; data input; creating, publishing, and presenting data findings, creating data reports and executive summaries, maintaining records and other related duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements and Qualifying Experience
- Must be a currently enrolled student at Cal Poly with a minimum of 6 units. All ASI student staff must have a minimum GPA of 2.0. Graduate students must carry 4 units/3.0 GPA
- Previous related experience and/or education in assessments, statistics, or data analysis preferred
- Communication skills adequate to deal with the public, students, faculty and staff
- Excellent computer skills required, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Ability to be highly organized and have good planning skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to execute written correspondence, reports and organize data accurately
- Ability to make independent decisions and make recommendations
- Ability to effectively coordinate multiple tasks and adhere to deadlines
- Strong verbal communication skills required, including ability to share relevant information, ask questions, listen well and respond appropriately
Supervisory Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Have an awareness of and appreciation for individual uniqueness and diversity

- Provide quality customer service for all staff and customers
- Have an awareness of safety concerns and risk management
- Be familiar with evacuation plan for staff area
- Attend all mandatory meetings and training
- Maintain prompt hours and follow absence procedures
- Maintain a working relationship with staff and co-workers
- Collaborate with professional staff to design, structure, test, edit, schedule, launch, and assess program surveys and assessment tools
- Archive and maintain ASI assessment database
- Create, publish, and present data findings, create data reports and executive summaries
- Maintain electronic and hard copy records of surveys and results
- Ensure the publication of survey results as assigned
- Work with supervisor to conduct focus groups
- Collaborate with supervisor to recommend next steps based on survey results
- Complete simple-to-complex typing assignments
- Work with established computer programs, i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Assist supervisor with the tracking of assessment findings over time and determine trends
- Maintain a calendar of assessments and make recommendations for survey launches
- Prepare data and findings for Executive Director reports and ASI Annual Report when assigned
- Conduct various research projects as assigned
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- The person holding this position is considered a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in ASI policy as a condition of their employment.
- Other duties as assigned.

Period of Employment
Employment with this organization is of an "at will" nature, which means that the employee may resign at any time and ASI may discharge the employee at any time with or without cause.
Compensation and Hours
Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour; maximum 20 hours per week.
