We are a private, non-profit local chapter of The Arc of Maryland and The Arc of The United States, the largest volunteer organization in the world devoted exclusively to improving the quality of life for all adults and children with developmental disabilities.

Description

Position Summary:

The Transportation and Maintenance Manager's primary responsibilities include the oversight of safe and efficient delivery of transportation services and maintenance of agency properties and vehicles. This position will act as a liaison with other program and supporting departments representing the Transportation and Maintenance department.

Position Duties & Responsibilities:

In a manner consistent with supporting The Arc NCR Mission Statement the Transportation and Maintenance Manager shall do the following:

Quality Supports

  • Oversee the GPS, Driver Alerts, and Department of Transportation (DOT) programs.
  • Resolve daily transportation and maintenance service issues and emergencies in a timely and effective manner.
  • Take responsibility for safety hazards in all areas including but is not limited to programs, places of employment and vehicles.
  • Oversee maintenance of all residential settings, administrative offices, and vehicles and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including DOT.
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors related to maintenance operations and transportation.
  • Conduct regular inspections of all Life Safety Systems, including fire extinguishers, sprinkler, and alarm systems.
  • Ensure that the outside of The Arc NCR properties are maintained, including landscaping and snow removal.
  • Understand and implement the organization's emergency management and disaster plan.
  • Oversee the agency's inventory of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Develop contacts with various vendors to ensure consistent supply is available and procured.
  • Monitor house/building alarm activity and act as primary contact for alarm company.
  • Oversee the house maintenance inspection process and work with Community Living regarding Health and Safety needs.

Quality Team Members

  • Provide supervision and evaluation of Maintenance Technician team.
  • Work effectively and cooperatively with the Human Resources department to ensure agency personnel policies and procedures are followed and take necessary disciplinary action to ensure staff members are held accountable to those policies.
  • Coordinate with other departments on all maintenance and vehicle related issues.
  • Develop, implement, and deliver transportation related training.
  • Assure staff members under his/her supervision are meeting agency, state, and federal regulations for required in-service training and certifications.

Financial Excellence

  • Oversee residential leases. Ensure compliance with lease terms and proactively address lease renewals. Locate new rental properties as needed.
  • Track and monitor expenses and complete quarterly grant reporting requirements timely and accurately.
  • Maintain key security.
  • Coordinate insurance policies for facilities and operations including reapplication and ensure the most beneficial strategies are employed.
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain gas card programs.
  • Manage Preventative Maintenance Program using The Arc NCR database to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Complete Maintenance and Transportation paperwork, i.e., PO's, moving violations, inspections, mileage reporting, and MVA requirements.
  • Manage vehicle accident process.
  • Coordinate the purchase of vehicles as assigned.
  • Work effectively and cooperatively with the Finance Department to ensure agency policies and procedures are followed and budgetary goals are met related to the financial responsibilities of the maintenance and transportation department.
  • Assess and recommend necessary capital improvement projects.

Other duties as assigned.
