Assistant General Manager 


The Assistant General Manager ("AGM") assists the General Manager ("GM") in managing hotel day-to-day operations, assures optimum performance and continual improvement in guest satisfaction and associate satisfaction. The AGM will be working very closely with an experienced, high-energy GM!

The AGM is hands on in managing the hourly staff, including scheduling, directing and overseeing their daily activities and training. The AGM is expected to provide leadership to the staff to promote an exceptional workplace. The AGM also must ensure that safety and security procedures are in place in accordance with company guidelines and standards for all associates and guests.

The AGM tends to all facets of the hotel in the absence of the General Manager.


  • Supervise and manage by interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating and counseling employees and supervisors
  • Maintain standards of quality guest service and cleanliness
  • Achieve budgeted revenues and expenses and maximize profitability related to the front office, guest services and housekeeping departments
  • Develop short- and long-term financial and operational plans for the Front Office, Guest Services and Housekeeping departments that relate to the overall objectives of the hotel.
  • Participate in the preparation of the annual hotel budget.
  • Participate in the inventory process of linen and cleaning supplies
  • Perform daily room inspections and daily walk-throughs of the public areas of the hotel to check for cleanliness
  • Increase level of guest satisfaction by delivery of an exceptional product through employee development.
  • Review the reservation function to maintain the highest possible room occupancy and average daily rate through suggestive selling by associates.
  • Maintain and correct procedures for credit control, financial transactions, security of financial assets, and guest security.
  • Respond and resolve guest requests, complaints, or questions in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Participate in the Executive committee including sharing and communicating knowledge and by attending weekly or monthly meetings.
  • Ability to accurately use various office, property management systems and accounting software.
  • Manage inventory controls for F&B outlets

  • Ability to assist with the design and preparation of statistical reports and presentations as needed.
  • Ability to accurately report information.
  • Ability to assist with various accounting department tasks as needed.
  • Ability to scrupulously follow all StepStone and hotel policies and procedures.
  • Attend required meetings.

These are required of every associate.

  • Minimum lifting of 50 pounds.
  • Pushing, bending, stooping, upward reaching, manual dexterity.
  • Hearing, writing, typing.
  • Minimum pulling of 50 pounds.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Additional responsibilities specific to you are:
  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of all hotel departments and functions.
  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of applicable Federal, state, and local health, safety, and legal regulations.
