Counselor PACES

Looking for a Full-Time Counselor for our PACES program.

 

Job Summary:

You will provide assessment related to youth's educational and occupational goals to help them attain long-term success, help develop academic and soft skills, arrange supplemental instruction for continued support, and connect clients to resources and additional programs. You will also promote and schedule job interviews and college tours, and deliver ongoing attention to support concerning financial aid, navigation, and relationship development.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Work with 26 high school and/or college students in developing an enhancing academic skill, applying to colleges, trade schools, financial aid
  • Be a facilitator for clients educational needs
  • Travel to young adults residing in the Northern Region of the state (Bergen, Passaic, Hudson, Morris, Warren and Sussex)
  • Assist young adults secure and maintain employment, including job searches, resume building, and roleplaying interviews
  • Teach and model soft skills training, such as communication, professionalism, organization, study skills and self-advocacy
  • Communicate with system partners, including DCPP, CMO, and schools, to work toward assisting the students in reaching their short and long-term goals

 

What We Need to See:

  • Master's degree in education, school counseling, or other related field from an accredited college or university
  • Two (2) years' experience providing services to children and families in crisis or educational process
  • Valid state driver's license required and must be insurable by Agency's automobile insurance
  • Spanish speaking preferred
