Job Description

Position: Development Manager

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Associate Executive Director of Development, the Development Coordinator will assist in planning, building, reporting, and implementing processes for the RBAC's fundraising programs and grant solicitation and management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Annual Giving & Scholarship Programs

  • Plan, lead, and report on all campaigns, such as lead the execution of the Annual Giving and Scholarship Campaigns;
  • Create and track acknowledgments for all campaigns programs, in addition to other channels of organizational support; and
  • Plan and lead development event logistics.

Grants & Institutional Giving

  • Research grant and other institutional fundraising opportunities;
  • Develops and writes grant applications and submits to the appropriate funding or authorizing agency for consideration; and
  • Manage pre- and post-award funding requirements and deliverables.

Development Communication

  • Support the development of and manage departmental communication.

Research & Data Management

  • Conduct individual donor prospecting and research, including donor and prospect management, auditing and reporting per Development policies and guidelines;
  • Regularly assist with constituent data integrity projects, including background and demographic information, prospect pool and pipeline analysis using the RBAC's donor database (DonorPerfect);
  • Provide timely, relevant, and accurate delivery of constituent information and data analysis to guide donor and prospect identification and portfolio management activities;
  • Analyze, manage and present analysis, insights and actionable recommendations to development staff; and
  • Respond to constituent queries and concerns by phone line, in-person and email account(s) on a daily basis.

Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising; working knowledge of direct mail strategy and implementation and fundraising database software.
  • Have passion, creativity and intellectual curiosity to learn, innovate and create useful and effective business solutions.
  • Strong writing skills to produce original and effective solicitation materials, publications, e-communications, acknowledgement letters and other correspondence, reports and documents using correct grammar, syntax and punctuation.
  • Have strong critical thinking skills with strong attention to detail and ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Recognize the importance of data quality, integrity, and confidentiality in the context of a dynamic and high-performing advancement team.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to move multiple projects forward simultaneously
  • Demonstrated success in delivering high-quality work on a consistent, reliable basis in a fast-paced work environment with ambitious goals.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
  • Minimum Experience: 3 year; combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience
  • Minimum Field of Expertise: General office experience, including research. Demonstrated analytical, communication and interpersonal skills and customer relations.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience


Working Conditions:

Work is generally performed in a temperature-controlled office environment although position requires knowledge of and familiarity with support areas. Some outdoor work is required involving potentially inclement weather conditions. Some travel required. Position requires regular contact with the public. Must be able to work under pressure, exercise sound judgment, and adhere to deadlines.

FLSA Status:
This classification is exempt from FLSA requirements.

Work Schedule:
Full-Time; 12 months

Pay and Benefits:
$28.00 to $30.00 per hour
