Turning Point Community Programs is seeking a Van Driver for our Cart Program in Modesto, California. Turning Point Community Programs (TPCP) provides integrated, cost-effective mental health services, employment and housing for adults, children and their families that promote recovery, independence and self-sufficiency. GENERAL PURPOSE

Under the administrative supervision of the Program Director or designee, this position is responsible for the transportation of Turning Point members to appointments and activities.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is an at-will direct service position within a program. The position will safely transport our members to appointments and activities.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)

  • Safely transports members and other passengers to and from appointments and activities using program owned vehicle.
  • Maintains clean driving record and currency of driver’s license.
  • Maintains the van.
  • Provides prompt intervention in the event of a crisis both to stop the crisis and to notify, when indicated, persons and agencies necessary for the resolution of the crisis situation.
  • Provides “on-the-spot” counseling that is both helpful to the members and consistent with the philosophy of the program.
  • Records in the log significant events of the shift and observations of individual members which may be relevant to the members treatment and/or success or failure at Turning Point.
  • Records daily in the spreadsheet log each ride completed for the entire shift
  • Processes daily the CART phone messages into approved/unapproved rides.
  • Communicates daily to each passenger ride availability.
  • Creates daily a calendar entry for each approved ride.
  • Attends to the safety of the clients.
  • Provides support to other staff members as needed.
  • Adheres to and upholds the policies and procedures of Turning Point Community Programs.
  • Attends staff meeting unless approval for non-attendance is secured from Program Director.

  • Psychosocial rehabilitation’s treatment and programming.

  • Exercise appropriate judgment and decision making.

  • Be well organized, flexible, and self-disciplined.
  • Get to multiple locations typically via car.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES

Education, Training and Experience:

A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is through graduation from High School or completion of GED program; one (1) year of experience working in a health care facility. Varied life experience related to mental health.

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:

  • California driver’s license & current vehicle insurance/registration
  • Reliable means of transportation capable of passing vehicle safety inspection if more than five years old excluding all modes of two-wheeled transport inclusive of bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles.
