Tool Room Manager 

Description
  • Provide work direction and scheduling to ensure attainment of new product development timeline.
  • Responsible for tool sourcing selecting suppliers based on cost, delivery, and quality.
  • Quotes new tools
  • Responsible for the implementation of a tool quote process
  • Leads with behaviors aligned with MME Core Values and Culture.
  • Track and control shop costs through utilization and constant improvements of the job costing system.
  • Develops and implements a strategic plan making MME tool room a center of excellence.
  • Leads team staying actively engaged in tool development.
  • Support and implement prescribed employee programs. Prepares and administers performance evaluations of team members.
  • Develops and implements lean manufacturing techniques to continuously improve production while controlling costs and increasing efficiency.
  • Supports MME group's quality policy and procedures within subordinates and through personal actions.
  • Guides and assists in solving manufacturing problems
  • Proactively prescribes process/procedure changes to improve shop flow and profitability
  • Collaborates with Tooling Engineer optimizing tool design
  • Manage capital equipment upgrades and the introduction of modern technology.
  • Develop and implement capital budgets, labor planning, training and capacity planning projects.
  • Promote and support the company strategy.
  • Manages production tool repairs, revisions, budget, and schedule
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED is required. 2 years of technical or trade school with an emphasis on tool making is preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience of working in a tool room or similar environment.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a leadership role.
  • Transformational leadership style is needed.
  • Technical expertise in thermoplastic and thermoset molding.
  • Technical mathematical skills such as: geometry, trigonometry, and mechanical drafting.
  • Ability to multitask completing tasks within the customer specifications and timeline.
  • Good communication skills with peers, direct reports, and customers
  • Working knowledge of Creo (Pro Engineer) or SolidWorks
  • Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office.
  • Build plastic injection molds safely and efficiently within customers specifications.
  • Understands the EDM process and manufacture of electrodes.
  • Proficient knowledge of all processes within the shop.
  • Previous relationship with other tool shops is a plus.
  • To use precision measuring tools commonly used in the mold building trade.
  • Walking and stair climbing is required in office and shop areas.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds unaided
