LSA is searching for a highly skilled leader to join our team as Director of Air Quality and Climate Change Services to provide technical expertise, project and team management, and business development support for our air quality and climate change service line. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic senior professional to contribute to influential projects throughout California, while mentoring the next generation of air quality and climate change professionals. LSA’s existing clients include transportation agencies, water agencies, local governments, and private developers. The Director of Air Quality and Climate Change Services will build and maintain client relationships to grow the service line throughout California. The position would require the preparation of technical proposals and participation in business development activities with existing clients and identified leads.

The successful candidate will serve as a technical resource for LSA’s Environmental Planning services and will ensure that the Air Quality and Climate Change team performs at the highest possible level of product and service quality. The candidate will make sure that the team is properly staffed (and trained) to handle current and projected workloads, implements LSA’s Quality Control Guidelines, and is up-to-date on evolving air quality regulation and climate change policy. We are looking for a successful group leader who has the desire to play an integral part in the continued growth and development of this group, to mentor staff, and to develop innovative ideas for growing LSA’s Air Quality and Climate Change services. The company headquarters is located in Irvine, California, but this position can be affiliated with any of LSA’s offices. Remote and flex-work options will also be considered with the willingness to travel within California as needed.

The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $196,000 per year. The compensation offer will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.

 
Position Requirements
  • A BS/BA in an engineering, science, environmental, or urban planning field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Ability to review Air Quality/Greenhouse Gas reports to ensure they are technically accurate, well written, and legally defensible.
  • Ability to prepare and lead Climate Action Planning efforts for local jurisdictions.
  • Experience effectively managing multiple projects with attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.
  • Ability to create and build client relationships that result in new and repeat business.
  • Experience mentoring staff to ensure their skill levels are progressing.
  • Advanced knowledge of air quality models including CalEEMod, EMFAC, CALINE4, AERMOD, ISCST3, and SCREEN3 models.
  • Extensive knowledge of air quality principles, analysis methodologies, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Extensive knowledge of greenhouse gas and climate change analysis methodologies and regulatory guidelines; Air Quality Management District and Air Pollution Control District regulatory programs and their relationship to the Federal Clean Air Act.
  • Ability to perform air quality and greenhouse gas technical studies and sections in support of California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation for various public and private projects, including but not limited to environmental impact statements/reports, environmental assessments, and mitigated negative declarations is desired.
  • Experience with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and transportation related Conformity Analysis is desired.
 
Compensation The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $196,000 per year. The compensation offer will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.
