Estimator  

Description

The Estimator will develop cost information for new and existing production and tooling projects. They will spend the majority of the workday preparing data associated with the projects. Involvement with customers is also key. An estimator may spend time developing relationships with customers in order to solve their problems and create a partnership. After careful calculations, the estimator will then forecast the production costs within a given timetable.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Works with the customer to understand the program/customer requirements presented
  • Determine key variables of each project
  • Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
  • Identifies and computes labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
  • Use software for data analysis, forecasting and budgeting
  • Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Presents professionally prepared estimates/proposals by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintains cost data base by entering and backing up data.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Creates and grows relationships with key customers and/or vendors
 
Position Requirements

 

  • Bachelor degree in a related field preferred.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in manufacturing or related field
  • Valid identification and the ability to legally work in the United States.
  • Walking and stair climbing is required with in the office/shop areas.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 30lbs.
  • Uses Microsoft office skills, organizational skills, and possesses the ability to work independently all in accordance with well-known office procedures and practices.
  • Prophecy with Excel is preferred.
  • Self-disciplined to complete tasks as assigned by lead without direct supervision.
  • Great written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must take serious notice to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Strong desire to help promote and contribute to our culture of accountability.
