Treatment is based on the belief that, through a combination of medically managed care and therapeutic intervention and education, patients can learn to effectively manage their illnesses and cope with the effects on their lives.   Location Signature Psychiatric Hospital - NKC   Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time   Exempt/Non-Exempt Non-Exempt   Shift Various Shifts   Position Assessment Referral Counselor III   Description The Assessment Counselor III is responsible for responding to inquiry calls, scheduling assessments, providing appropriate clinical screening of potential admissions, providing appropriate referrals and interfacing with Assessment and Referral staff/Physicians/Managed Care organizations/Insurance companies and the Business Office.   Position Requirements Skills: Knowledge of hospital admission functions, psychiatric diagnoses symptomology, basic chemical dependency, and crisis/behavior management. Knowledge of assessment and referral techniques and procedures. Knowledge of external review organizations (i.e. managed care, Medicare, Medicaid). Knowledge of patients’ rights, advanced directives, adult/child abuse laws, and emergency detention. Basic computer knowledge. Qualifications: Master’s Degree from an accredited program in mental health, psychology, social work, or related field; or a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing. At least one (1) year direct clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting.
