Salary Min. $68,570 - Mid. $85,027 (DOQ)  
Position Requirements

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Five(5) years experience writing successfully-funded grants, preferably for a government agency -OR- five (2) years experience in grant administration, preferably for or awarded to a government agency.

BS degree required or Masters preferred in Political Science, Business, or related field of study which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and events as required.

Traveling to and from events will be required.

Description

General Description

This position will work closely with the Mayor and his staff, providing administrative support, staff supervision, and predominately writing grants.

Duties and Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

  • Researches and writes grants to support the staff and work of the Office of the Mayor, including special projects & initiatives assigned or created by the Mayor.
  • Tracks & trends proposed legislation, including, invoices, statistical data, minute books, catalogs, laws, regulations, ordinances, policies, procedures, manuals, directories, reference materials, or other documentation,research national and international best practices in policymaking
  • Coordinates and supervises all staff of the Mayors Office, including the Public Advocate, interns, temporary employees, and those working through funded grants
  • Must manage the mayors calendar and daily activities of the Mayors office: to include the following Coordinates travel, accommodations & catering for executive-level meetings, to include serving as the liaison with the Finance department, and tracking accounts payable and receivables for the Office of the Mayor, preparing meeting agenda documents; coordinating meeting facilities, equipment, and refreshments; records and/or transcribes meeting minutes; distributes meeting minutes to departments and other individuals; coordinates framing of certificates, maps or other documents; provides administrative support and coordination for various meetings at the executive management level, which may include the City Council.
  • Must be able to communicate with all levels of management and council members and demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with all staff and council members.

Additional Functions

  • Performs other related duties as required.

Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (25-50 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.

Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.

Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
