About Mid Michigan Community Action Agency
MMCAA is a nonprofit community action agency whose mission is to guide local residents on the path to self-sufficiency through empowerment, education and community enrichment. The early childhood services department provides comprehensive Early Head Start home based services, Head Start and GSRP preschool services as well as WIC services.
Pay Rate: $16.20/hr
HIRING INCENTIVE:
$2,500.00 for new RFT employees to be paid out as follows
$500.00 at time of hire (first paycheck)
$500.00 at successful completion of 90 days (removed from provisional status)
$1500.00 at successful completion of full year of employment
What you will do
Early Head Start provides in home services that include educational, social emotional, nutrition and health services to pregnant women and children up to the age of three. Educators are responsible to:
Provide weekly in-home visits in partnership with each family
Promote and support effective parent-child interactions using routines and the family home as the primary learning environment.
Execute identified home based curriculum to fidelity.
Conduct ongoing child assessments with the children and their parents and use the results to plan for individualization.
Responsible for engagement of families through active participation in home visits, socialization and parent meeting experiences.
Make all efforts to assure the safety and well-being of every child and family in the program.
Assure appropriate referrals for services are made on behalf of the children and families.
Work collaboratively with community partners in delivering quality services to children and families.
Accurately complete required program documentation and record keeping in a neat and timely manner.
Responsible for inputting data into program data bases.
What we will love about you
Associate degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field.
Will consider a Home Visitor Child Development Associate Credential.
Bachelors degree preferred.
A minimum of 1-year experience with young children and families.
Early Head Start/Head Start experience preferred.
Willing to complete 15 hours of annual training in addition to CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogen training.
Infant/toddler experiences preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively.
Demonstrated ability as a strength-based leader.
Demonstrated ability to present information to community groups.
Knowledge of 0-5 Curriculum/Teaching Strategies Gold/Child Plus preferred.
