FGA Student Life Department

Position Summary: This position is responsible for ensuring the Global Homework Café® (GHC) meets FGA brand promise, managing the GHC operations and GHC Student Life team, and developing and maintaining a comprehensive, well-rounded student social experience. Requirements for this position include a Bachelor's degree and at least three years of teaching or tutoring and/or school administration experience. The ideal candidate must relate well with others, have exceptional classroom management skills, lead by example, have positive energy, encompass the ability to remain calm in a high-paced virtual environment, and be tech savvy self-starter. They must respect the personhood of the student while maintaining authority, boundaries, and discipline. The Director of Student Life® must create a healthy balance between productivity toward homework completion and academic accountability, socialization, and fun. Knowledge of multiple subjects at the high school level and experience with Special Education and Youth Mental Health background is a plus.

Positional Mentor and Collaborative Partner: Justin Talkington, Director of Global Community 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensure students are completing assignments through managing an effective sign out process.
  • Communicating with all stakeholders to share successes and develop strategies to ensure academic success.
  • Support teacher's and the FGA academic team to individualize their student's assignments, using accommodations and modifications.
  • Provide input for students quarterly goal setting and performance concerns.
  • Facilitate the administration of formal assessment tools and surveys.
  • Supervise weekly Finish Line Friday.
  • Manage student extracurricular activities, student yearly events and school traditions, community service events, monthly student meetings, FGA student council, FGA Clubhouse, and the FGA Global Neighborhood (student and family facing website).
  • Manage FGA Student Life® team and ensure the GHC is staffed appropriately, providing adequate student support.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in area of content focus.
  • Experience with Special Education and Youth Mental Health background a plus.
  • Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, a great communicator and self-starter.
  • Our ideal candidate has exceptional classroom and small group management skills, creative programming experience, and is an outgoing, well-organized individual who is eager to work in a highly dynamic, energetic virtual setting.
  • Experience with Canvas, Salesforce, and other education technology platforms.
