AM CAFE ATTENDANT/Barista 

Description

Administration

  • Greet all guests in a warm and enthusiastic manner.
  • Memorize menu selections including being familiar with daily specials and basic ingredients.
  • Use proper verbiage and etiquette when answering questions about ingredients.
  • Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. Preferences of coffee, blend, dairy, and sugar ratios)
  • Write drink order on the cup.
  • Prepare beverages following recipes.
  • Serve beverages and deliver prepared food such as cookies, pastries, and muffins.
  • Receive and process payment (cash and credit cards).
  • Keep the counter areas clean.
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels of clean mugs, plates, and all merchandise.
  • Assist in cleaning and wiping down of service areas and prep areas.
  • Notify a supervisor immediately of any guest complaints.
  • Ensure brewing equipment is operating properly and report any maintenance issues.
  • Comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Communicate customer feedback to supervisor/manager and recommend new menu items.
  • Answer department telephone using proper telephone etiquette.
  • Practice and observe all safety rules and procedures.
  • Assist all service personnel in any duties as requested.
  • Maintain and follow all cash handling procedures.
  • Ability to accurately use various office software.

Support

  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of the English language to effectively communicate with guests, associates, and vendors.
  • Ability to accurately report information.
  • Ability to scrupulously follow all StepStone and hotel policies and procedures.
  • Attend required meetings.

These are required of every associate.

  • Minimum lifting of 25 pounds.
  • Pushing, bending, stooping, upward reaching, manual dexterity.
  • Hearing, writing, typing.
  • Minimum pulling of 50 pounds.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
