Description

The Non-Destructive Inspector (NDI) Evaluator and Tester will evaluate, recommend, NDI parameters for implementation of changes to existing and new processes. All briefs, reports, documents, recommendations, evaluations, and activities prior to implementation shall go through the Government NDI Program Manager for approval.

Additional Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited To:

  • Recommend procedures and techniques used to locate and identify anomalies in manufactured, reworked, and in-service metallic and non-metallic aircraft and aircraft relate components.
  • Design and perform tests, analyze, apply NDI and evaluation technique fundamentals, and evaluate results of processes used throughout the USCG.
  • Arrive at technically accurate conclusions, provide recommendations, and report the findings.
  • Interpret, select, adapt, and apply guidelines, engineering principles and practices in the development of Nondestructive Testing/ Inspection/Evaluation (NDT/I/E) methods to use at the ALC and throughout the USCG aviation community.
  • Develop and implement NDI technical directives in the form of but not limited to:
  • TCTOs
  • MPCs
  • ALC specifications and instructions.
  • Coordinate with product line engineering, production management, and NDI personnel to continually improve testing methods, techniques, and facilities with an eye towards improving efficiency, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Assist the NDI Program Manager in the review of all NDI related technical documents and CG-22s for the USCG aviation fleet and ALC.
  • Review and recommend to the Government NDI Program Manager any industry standards and specifications (SAE, military specifications, etc.) that would be instrumental in maintaining the most complete and accurate NDI programs possible.
  • Support USCG surface fleet with NDI when required.
  • Support USCG airworthiness by ensuring manufacturing and quality processes result in airworthy aircraft components and structures.
  • Provide NDI technical expertise in a failure analysis, root cause failure analysis, and in support of mishap investigations.
  • Research cost estimates and written proposals for industrial engineering related efforts.
  • Serve as NDI Level II Inspector with assignments across all ALC divisions as required and be responsible for the acceptance and rejection of aircraft parts.
  • Travel to complete tasking as required.
  • Perform other NDI services as required.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.
  • Assist with proposal development, if necessary.
