Description

We are looking for a Sample Receiving Supervisor to join our growing team! The Sample Receiving Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all customer samples are processed in a timely, accurate and effecient manner. The supervisor is responsible for overseeing the activities of Sample Receiving department and all associates/assistants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinates all incoming sample work requests and manages staff and daily work schedules to ensure timely and efficient processing of all samples.
  • Enters data into the Certified Laboratories Information Management System (LIMS) in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Directs the activities of the department including sample logging priorities by customer, to ensure the timeliness, accuracy and reliability of the work.
  • Oversees the clerical review of all sample logging in LIMS in order to eliminate logging and transcription errors.
  • Collaborates with client services to ensure all customer specifications (Products) are correct and match client requests forms.
  • Collaborates with the other department supervisors to ensure they are aware of the sample volumes that have been received and can prepare for any out of the ordinary or high-volume testing requests.
  • Acts as a resource for Associates and Assistants.
  • Manages department metrics and KPI's
  • Trains and oversees the Associate and Assistants as required.
  • Participates in special projects as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor.
  • Keeps the Manager/Supervisor informed of issues or problems within the department.
  • Interacts with clients, suppliers and vendors as required.
  • Learns new techniques and technologies and trains others as appropriate.
  • Works effectively with other departments.
  • Responsible for the execution of all ISO 17025 and other accreditation/ QC requirements.
  • Ensures supply stocks are maintained in the department and initiates orders as needed.
  • Other duties as required.
 
Position Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    • AS degree in Science and appropriate industry specific experience. BS degree preferred.
    • Good conceptual basis in laboratory setting with proven ability to perform basic lab techniques.
    • Critical thinking – using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
    • Excellent organizational skills - ability to use your time, energy, resources, etc. in an effective manner.
    • Time management – one’s own time and the time of others.
    • Training – teaching and guiding others how to complete a process from beginning to end.
    • Strong relevant qualitative and quantitative skills.
    • Excellent arithmetic skills – using mathematics to solve problems.
    • Good communication skills – speaking, reading, writing and listening.
    • Manual dexterity.
    • Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
