Treatment is based on the belief that, through a combination of medically managed care and therapeutic intervention and education, patients can learn to effectively manage their illnesses and cope with the effects on their lives.   Location Signature Psychiatric Hospital - NKC   Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time   Exempt/Non-Exempt Non-Exempt   Shift Days   Position Assessment Referral Counselor I   Description Assessment Referral Registered Nurse responsible for responding to inquiry calls, scheduling assessments, providing appropriate clinical screening of potential admissions, providing appropriate referrals, and interfacing with Assessment and Referral staff/Physicians and the Business Office.   Position Requirements QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited program in mental health, nursing, psychology, social work, or related field and certification from the state of Missouri in substance abuse (CRADC, CRAADC, QAP, RADC, RADC-P, CCDP) required. Experience: 3-5 years of prior substance abuse counseling experience required. Sufficient direct clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting, with direct experience in patient assessment, family motivation, treatment planning, and communication with external review organizations of comparable entities. License: BS required for Counselor I. If nursing discipline, RN licensure is required. Additional Requirements: CPR certification and Crisis Prevention (CPI) during orientation and prior to assisting in a restraining procedure. May be required to work flexible hours and overtime. SKILLS: Knowledge of assessment and referral techniques/procedures. Knowledge of external review organizations (i.e. managed care, Medicare, Medicaid) Knowledge of patients’ rights, advanced directives, adult/ child abuse laws, and emergency detention. Strong leadership and negotiation skills Effective communication in English, both verbally and in writing. Basic computer knowledge Knowledge of patient assessment, individual/family treatment methods, complex patient care planning, and treatment planning techniques.
