POSITION SUMMARY: The Department of English and Writing Arts at Moravian University invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor position for academic year 2022-23, with the possibility of renewal. All faculty in English and Writing Arts at Moravian must be able to teach in multiple areas, but candidates for this position should have particular expertise in creative writing (which might include, but is not limited to, poetry, fiction, digital storytelling/media, and scriptwriting, drama, and film), with secondary expertise in Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander, Latino/-a, Indigenous, or other multicultural literature, rhetorics, film, performance, or other work. We encourage applications from those whose work engages community and issues of justice. Publications in creative writing and demonstrable interest in creative writing pedagogy are necessary. Candidates should be able to teach Moravian's first-year writing seminar, entry-level courses that contribute to the University's mission as an interdisciplinary liberal arts institution, and upper-level courses in the major. An ability to contribute to Africana Studies, Women's, Gender & Sexuality Studies, and/or proposed programs in Latin American Studies or Asian/AAPI Studies is highly desirable. Standard teaching course load is four courses per semester, at least one of which will be at the introductory level. Ph.D. or MFA by August 2022 strongly preferred.
