Accounts Receivable Clerk

Salary: $19.77- $30.25

JOB SUMMARY: The Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible for the day-to-day processing of accounts receivable, billing, fixed assets and related areas of interface and support. The incumbent performs data entry tasks to enter and verity billing and payment information. He/she sorts and distributes all documents as necessary and maintains an accurate file of the receivables

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receives invoicing requests and enters payments and adjustments to patient account ledgers.
  • Produces formal invoices via billing systems or manually as required.
  • Act ad a prime day-to-day interface to third party vendors supporting invoicing process.
  • Inputs invoices into accounts receivable system as required,
  • Works with other department in finding solutions to their A/R and billing inquiries.
  • Maintains filing of invoices, both outstanding and paid.
  • Maintains such schedules and reconciliations needed to properly control the A/R billing process and support related finance areas.
  • Prints out and mails statements.
  • Assists in running end-of-month reports.
  • Follows up on past due accounts receivable.
  • Obtains A/R write-off information from Patient Services Manager (PSM) and prepares summary for the Fiscal Officers review and approval. Sends approved bad debit listing to collections.
  • Prepares monthly A/R summary worksheet by payers and aging accounts.
  • Assists Controller and Chief Financial Officer in reconciling A/R detail to the General Ledger.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of all business information.
  • Other accounting support as required.

  • Works with all staff and administrators to assure excellent patient services are always delivered.

  • Serves as a member of selected committees as assigned.
  • Maintains and updates knowledge base and administrative skills through independent study and participating in quality improvement programs.
  • Attends in-service classes, institutes, and seminars to update knowledge and skills when required by clinic to improve patient support services.
  • Meets dress code standards; appearance is neat and clean.
  • Completes annual educational requirements.
  • Maintains regulatory requirements.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time.

  • Wears identification when on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly.
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community.
  • Ensures patient confidentiality.
  • Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department.

REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • A minimum of six (6) months experience in clerical accounting.
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping/accounting principles.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Other languages preferred.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Ability to type 45 words per minute.
  • Ability to correctly operate all office equipment.
