General Purpose

The Shop Parts Technician is responsible for parts ordering and maintaining appropriate levels of inventory in a shop environment. This position will assist in maintaining cleanliness in shops and yards and assist with general shop help.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assists in keeping the shop and yard clean and orderly
  • Receives, ships, bar codes and stocks incoming parts while maintaining appropriate stock levels within an organized stockroom
  • Pulls inventory and orders parts for the mechanics to ensure they receive the correct parts in a timely manner
  • Develops and maintains relationships with all vendors and evaluate price comparisons for best pricing and service
  • Issues purchase orders, performs data entry, researches billing inquiries and returns
  • Maintains inventory system for parts and fluids
  • Coordinates and prepares quarterly physical inventories
  • Washes equipment, sweeps shop, snow removal, takes care of trash and assist mechanics in cleanliness of the shop
  • Proactively seeks competitive pricing while sourcing the correct parts
  • Picks up and delivers parts from vendors to the shop
  • Shuttles employees and equipment as requested

Position Requirements

Job Qualifications

Experience:

  • Prior experience in medium and heavy-duty truck industry preferred
  • Experience working in a shop setting with some mechanical aptitude desired
  • Commercial Driver’s License – A (CDL A) is a plus but not mandatory
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
  • Data entry is a plus

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year to year basis

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Possession of a valid State Driver’s License is required
  • Candidates must pass Motor Vehicle Record (MVR checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
