Job Summary:

The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for the overall planning, management, and execution of work for client assigned pipeline projects and awarded construction projects, specifically related to construction of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations. The PM will be assigned responsibility for one or more region at a time, which will consist of multiple projects. Maximizes project profitability and promotes Energy Services West (ESW) objectives and goals. Achieves quality and safety standards and meets all customer expectations.

Project Development and Proposal Preparation:

  • Supports estimating efforts (i.e. review of specifications and drawings, site assessments, , solicit quotes from technical and construction operating units) to ensure accurate and consistent bid to build process.
  • Collaborates in review of contracts, MSAs or other agreements related to project with Counsel and upper Management.
  • Ensures appropriate quanta technical and construction resources are in place to support work.
  • Collaborates with the client team and internal Quanta resources to ensure project pipeline moves efficiently to construction.
  • Assists with assembly of client proposals which includes risk assessment, evaluating opportunities to increase profit, estimating, value engineering, technical writing, site visits and client Q&A.
  • Organizes and lead internal and external design review and pre-construction meetings.
  • Participates in the negotiation and preparation of subcontracts.
  • Participates in obtaining permits, utility coordination, and resolving other regulatory requirements.
  • Prepares project schedules and develops milestones necessary to meet project objectives.
  • Maintains positive relationships with clients and assist with business development as requested.
  • Develops and monitor project quality, safety, and risk management plans.
  • Attends select proposed project site walks in order to review feasibility, appropriateness and scope of proposed work and obtain necessary information regarding site-specific details and restraints required to accomplish objective of working safely and productively.

Initial Planning:

  • Responsible for pipeline review and proposal development/submittal with support of internal technical and construction operating units.
  • Plans design review and pre-construction meeting with the all internal stakeholders.

Project Execution:

  • Builds and leads effective project-based teams.
  • Develops and communicates schedule and production milestones. Maintain a high level of communication with key stakeholders regarding project status and profitability.
  • Controls payment of job costs based on review and approval processes.
  • Responsible for monthly job cost reviews to communicate overall project status.
  • Attends and documents customer/owner coordination meetings.

Change Management:

  • Identify, track and negotiate resolution of change orders.
  • Escalates changes orders to upper management when necessary.

Financial Management:

  • Approves and monitors weekly and monthly financial reports, forecasts, budgets and other metrics throughout the duration of the project.
  • Develops monthly invoices for customers and follow up on collection.
  • Reports to upper management team project financial health.

  • Participates in safety audits and incident investigations.
  • Resolves all quality nonconformance issues.
  • Exercises stop work authority for Safety and Quality issues.

Project Closeout:

  • Responsible to coordinate project closeout to minimize additional unplanned costs and confirm clients expectations were met. Develop executive summary of lessons learned and significant impacts of decisions made within project that is presented to internal teams for future planning and troubleshooting.
  • Interacts with Project Controls to provide project cost information for the estimating database.
  • Directs organization and preparation of all project documents for storage.
  • Maintains working relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, corporate management, inspectors, etc., provide customer service to develop long-term partnerships with client base.

Other Duties:

  • Ability to travel and be present on projects as needed. Travel is anticipated to be approximately 25%.
  • Interacts with all company departments to ensure company policy and procedures are carried out and corporate objectives achieved.
  • Works with the safety department to ensure that all the necessary safety equipment is available for each project.
  • Supports Business Development in supplying project related information and metrics as well as collaborating in the development of future work. Maintain regular and professional communication with clients regarding proposed project approaches and details relevant to the client.
  • Collaborates with internal teams (i.e. Project Controls, HR, Safety, Fabrication Shop, Warehouse, etc.) to plan and prioritize workload; procure equipment and supplies; ensure appropriate staffing plans and otherwise address risk mitigation prior to mobilization.
  • Maintains presence and knowledge of on-site progress and deliverables. When not available to be physically on-site ensure communication with appointed Foreman/Supervisor/Lead person regarding: decision making authority and availability to address issues as they arise.
  • Collaborates with Contract Administration and Accounting to maintain appropriate records to satisfy daily backup requirements for invoicing and communicate expectations to project staff.
  • Collaborates with Engineering by providing constructability reviews throughout the design process.
  • Collaborates with engineering to make sure all the construction documents (i.e. permitting, utility coordination, construction of EV charging stations, Construction drawings, Drill Cards, Micropile Locate Table, Test Sheets, Grout batch tickets, as-built spreadsheet) are in order and ensure installation meets design criteria.
  • Assists with interviews of potential candidates for our Employee Development Program.
 
Position Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 4+ years of project management experience in geotechnical, construction or industry related field preferred.
  • Understands estimating concepts to the level required to verify bids, understand market rates, and process change orders, etc.
  • Understands contract management concepts required to protect the company while providing quality service to the customer.
  • Understands industry codes and other design requirements to the extent necessary for the project.
  • Read and understands construction drawings and specifications.
  • Has a high standard of ethical conduct regarding organizational policies.
  • Excellent computer, written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Certification as Project Management Professional required within one (1) year.
