In this role you will:

  • Work independently to build optical and mechanical precision  sub-assemblies.
  • Train other assemblers to build and process assemblies.
  • Work with Engineering to build prototype and pilot products.
  • Work with Engineering to find process solutions.
  • Redline bills-of-materials and process methods to drive document changes.
  • Perform analysis and repair on returned and rejected assemblies.
  • Be responsible for performing entry level mechanical, electronic, opto-mechanical and/or electro- mechanical assembly or system level assembly operations using various hand tools, fixtures and equipment.
  • Follow product methods to perform standard tasks such as component installation, electrical wiring, hand soldering, cable harnessing, plumbing, gluing, cleaning, labeling and packaging of sub-assemblies.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, protocols and industry regulations. 
  • Work semi-independently to build precision optical and mechanical sub-assemblies.
  • Use precision devices and equipment to ensure perfect form, fit and function of sub-assemblies.
  • Perform in-process quality checks on components and assemblies.
  • Collect and maintain (kit) materials for sub-assemblies.
 
Position Requirements

Experience And Education:

  • Work experience with building complex electro-mechanical and/or opto-mechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to identify process improvements, identify defects and deficiencies in material and assemblies.
  • Ability to troubleshoot moderately complex problems and offer suggestions for resolution.
  • Ability to support and assist less experienced operators.
  • 3 to 5 years in a manufacturing assembly role.
  • Good manual dexterity and eye/hand coordination.
  • Ability to routinely stand or sit for up to 2 hours.
  • Ability to routinely bend, reach, stoop, push and pull.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members.

 

The ideal candidate may also have:

  • Experience building lasers and/or optical assemblies.
  • Experience in performing rough optical alignment.
  • Certified in soldering and/or wire crimping.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Work experience with medical products, optics cleaning and handling, and component mounting and gluing.
  • Work experience in a medical device or medical product environment.
  • Experience in working as part of a team toward a common goal.
  • Experience using manual and power hand tools.
