General Purpose

The Hydro-Excavation Operator adds value to SiteWise by performing hydro-excavation operations consistent with Peak Utilities Services Group and Subsidiaries’ operating procedures and in compliance with customer requirements.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Complete all work assigned to them in compliance with Peak Utilities Services Group and Subsidiaries procedures and customer requirements
  • Use Company provided resources in a manner that is productive and protects the assets from damage and theft
  • Responsible for their safety, the safety of other Peak Utilities Services Group and Subsidiaries employees and the customers and general public that come into contact with their work activities
  • At the completion of assigned work, get the appropriate customer representative on site to sign off on the work order. Notify the Operations Supervisor if the customer was not available to approve the completed work
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of work orders, and dailies. Submit all complete and accurate paperwork to their Supervisor/Manager is a timely manner
  • Advise the Operations Supervisor of any conditions in the field that will change our ability to perform the work as required or complete the work on time. Follow any corrective action provided by the Operations Supervisor
  • Train and direct the duties of the hydro-excavation laborer
  • Perform daily and weekly truck inspections, truck paperwork including Department of Transportation (DOT) fuel log, immediately notify the Operations Supervisor of any truck repairs that are needed or performed
  • Make sure that truck is fully equipped with tools, mirrors, tape measures, paint, etc. and that the equipment operates properly
  • Interact with Peak Utilities Services Group and Subsidiaries Operations Management to meet corporate Operations and Administrative performance requirements
  • Develop and foster business relationships with client personnel

  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Supervisory Duties (if any)

  • Train and direct the duties of the hydro-excavation laborer

 

Employees are held accountable for all duties of this job.

 
Position Requirements

Experience:

  • One (1+) plus years of experience in hydro excavator operation is required
  • One (1+) plus years of experience digging and working around underground utilities is required
  • Two (2+) plus years of demonstrated experience in dry utilities preferred
  • Experience reading basic prints and Underground Facility Location Sketch is preferred
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year to year basis.

 

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Possession of a valid State Commercial Driver’s License Class A (CDL-A) with Tanker endorsement is required
  • Candidates must pass Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, a DOT regulated physical as a requirement of the job and pass a pre-employment drug screen
