We are looking for a Budget & Revenue Analyst/Manager to oversee the organization's budgeting procedures, strengthen relationships with financial stakeholders and oversee the process of collecting and organizing analytical data related to budgets, revenue and other financial activities. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, implementing, and evaluating budgets and cost projections, required to analyze the business's budgets, and produce reports on projections, costs, and expenditures.You will also analyze financial statements and collaborate with teams across the organization to determine monthly revenues and expenses.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

BUDGET:

  • Develops budget models for all cost centers including sub-components, using all known factors, both internal and external

  • Develops guidelines, parameters, schedules and procedures for actual budget preparation

  • Monitors budget performance. Develops policies for budget monitoring and control

  • Advises on general budget performance, alerting special circumstances or concerns

  • Assists in budget preparations and interpretation, providing explanations on specific budget items

  • Provides rationale of budget procedures and policies, offering guidance in planning budget strategies for individual departments and making recommendations to solve special situations

  • Monitors budget versus actual figures and works with Jr. Controller to develop strategies to maximize budget efficiencies

  • Develops goals and plans strategies for future budgeting

  • Develop and interpret budgetary policies and practices

  • Develop the annual budget report

  • Provides management with on-going forecasts of operating revenues and expenses, prepares quarterly budget reports

  • Provides analytical support in the review of operations and programs, undertakes special studies

  • Provides management reporting and variance analysis and analyzing expenditure trends

  • Creates strategies to optimize our organization's budgets and spending

  • Monitors spending patterns and implementing measures to promote adherence to budgets

  • Provides financial analysis and strategic input to facilitate high-level decision-making by management

  • Communicates complex accounting concepts to management and staff

  • Reporting and explaining budget decisions to internal and external stakeholders

  • Ensure that projects and accounts are managed cost-effectively to maintain adherence to the organization's financial objectives in the short, medium, and long-term.

  • Coordinate in the development of the specific grant budgets and budget narratives that provide the appropriate line-item crosswalk between accounting and the funder's specific budget line items.

  • Prepare funder required and contract compliance required financial reports.

  • Manage and implement all contractual invoicing for services provided by the organization to third parties.

  • May lead, guide, and train staff/student employees, interns, and/or volunteers performing related work; may participate in the recruitment of volunteers, as appropriate to the area of operation.

  • Provide backup support for accounting/bookkeeping activities

  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

REVENUE:

  • Support the Senior Director of Finance and Junior Controller with revenue modeling and forecasting

  • Develop revenue recognition strategies to maximize organization revenue

  • Generate revenue reports and financial statements for management review

  • Forecast monthly revenue in collaboration with Development team

  • Oversee revenue analysis, management, calculations and reporting functions on a monthly basis

  • Assist in revenue accounting and closing processes on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis

  • Develop internal controls to support revenue management activities

  • Review and recommend improvements to existing revenue management functions

  • Identify and resolve revenue related issues promptly

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Passionate about CPE's mission.

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.

  • Advanced (Masters) Degree in Finance/Accounting, Business, or Public Administration preferred

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) accreditation preferred

  • 8+ years financial planning, management, and operations experience

  • 4+ years expertise in results based budgeting, financial principles, planning and management

  • Familiarity with foundation grant budgets & governmental contract development preferred. Fund development experience a plus

  • Proficient with Quickbooks Online

  • MS Excel wizard!

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • A demonstrable record of promoting organizational growth through effective budget planning

  • Thorough knowledge of legal frameworks and business accounting procedures.

  • Ability to perform accounting and budgeting procedures

  • Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.

  • Knowledge and experience with GAAP, IFRS, OMB Circular A-133 and A-122, sub-grants, contracts, indirect cost rates, indirect cost pools and allocations

  • Strong interpersonal skills including the desire and ability to work graciously, patiently, and effectively with a wide variety of non-financial stakeholders on a daily basis

  • Solid knowledge experience preparing operating and program budgets, budget-to-actual reports, and performance reports

  • Flexibility and the willingness and ability to respond to a rapidly changing environment

  • Strong analytical skills coupled with expert level Excel/budget software skills and the ability to self-review work for reasonableness and accuracy

  • Critical thinker and problem-solver, communication and presentation skills

  • Conceptual/strategic skills and success in implementing budget/financial re-engineering, management systems development, policy design, innovation and knowledge;

  • Ability to demonstrate broad conceptual judgment, initiative and ability to deal with complex accounting issues;

  • Ability to manage/mentor staff, set priorities and multi-task
