Job Summary

This position will provide strategic oversight and execution of the Pirates Community Engagement efforts and will report to the Executive Director of Pirates Charities and Community Engagement. This position will lead relationship building efforts between the Pirates and community organizations throughout our region, particularly among diverse communities, stakeholders, nonprofit organizations, and political leaders. This role will also represent the Pirates at key community meetings, functions, and other public gatherings. Additionally, this role will help drive community-based Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts for the Pirates including specific events and programming. Finally, this role will drive and oversee volunteer opportunities, Board Member opportunities and other employee/community engagement initiatives to help deepen the Pirates involvement in our community.

Responsibilities

Primary:

  1. Support the Executive Director of Pirates Charities and Community Engagement in day-to-day functions.
  2. Lead relationship building efforts between the Pirates and community organizations throughout our region, including maintaining long-time partnerships and developing new relationships.
  3. Own the development of yearly partnership proposals with various key community organizations.
  4. Place specific importance on engaging and supporting diverse and underserved communities throughout the Pittsburgh region.
  5. Represent the Pirates as key community meetings, functions, and other public gatherings.
  6. Drive the Pirates community-based DEI efforts, including specific events and programming
  7. Manage the Pirates Commissioner’s Ticketing Initiative.
  8. Oversee opportunities for front office staff to serve on local non-profit boards or engage with community partners.
  9. Available and ability to work gamedays as needed throughout the season.
  10. Contribute to the management of Pirates Community budget.
  11. Support the team at large in all large-scale events.
  12. Tasks/projects as assigned by the Executive Director of Pirates Charities and Community Engagement.
 
Position Requirements

Required:

  1. Bachelor's Degree
  2. Minimum of 3-4 years’ experience in sports marketing, marketing, community relations, communications, or related field
  3. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  4. Knowledge of key community groups throughout the Pittsburgh region

Desired:

  1. Experience working events
  2. Experience in sports community relations area
  3. Passion for volunteerism and/or community engagement
