Description

We are looking for a Research Assistant to join the PRISM Lab at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. The PRISM (Pediatric Rehabilitation Intelligent Systems Multidisciplinary) Lab is a dynamic multidisciplinary team focused on maximizing possibilities for children and youth with disabilities and their families. We work closely with children, families, and clinicians to create and evaluate innovative technological solutions that provide children with severe disabilities new opportunities to interact with the world around them.
 
The successful candidate will support a study on a novel computer access solution which children with cerebral palsy will be able to customize at home with the help of their families. They will also support other access technology-related projects in the lab. 
 
A valid driver's license and access to a car are required for this position. Some tasks, including off-site travel, may occur during evenings or weekends.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist research team with administrative tasks, ethics submissions, and reports
  • Recruit participants through approved means
  • Conduct and document consent sessions with participants and their families
  • Conduct and document data collection sessions with children and families, ensuring a positive and engaging experience for participants
  • Manage logistics for data collection (scheduling sessions with participants, booking rooms, preparing and testing equipment, etc.)
  • Maintain study documentation
  • Prepare knowledge translation materials (presentations, video tutorials, user manuals, etc.)
  • Prepare electronic surveys to support remote data collection
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Master's degree in rehabilitation, psychology, science, or other related field
  • Experience conducting interviews and collecting data with participants
  • Experience managing a research study
  • Demonstrated computer skills and proficiency with technology
  • Exceptional organization, time management, and priority setting skills
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience with children and/or non-verbal individuals with disabilities
  • Valid driver's license and access to a car required
  • Knowledge of access technologies an asset
  • Ability to work flexible hours an asset
