SUMMARY
Conducts warehousing activities, assembles and routes various types of material. Counts, measures, or weighs materials to verify contents of shipments against bills of lading, invoices, or storage receipts. Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment. Verifies quantity, quality, labeling, and addressing of products and items of merchandise ready for shipment. Requisitions transportation from freight carriers to ship plant products. Compiles records concerned with ordering, receiving, storing, issuing, and shipping materials and supplies. Loads and unloads tankers and trucks. All by performing the following duties.

Temporarily keeps records of materials sent.
Requisitions and stores materials to maintain stock.
On occasion communicates with transportation company to schedule pick-ups.
Distributes materials upon arrival.
Unloads and unpacks incoming shipments.
Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
Determines method of shipment.
Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to noting damages and shortages.
Routes items to departments where needed, staging in production as needed.
Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
Maintains incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
Determines space requirements and position of shipment in trucks and lays out position of shipment.
Determines routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states.
Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seals truck doors.
Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair.
Maintains vehicle maintenance report.
Compiles records of unfulfilled orders.
Prepares bills of lading. Uses multiple freight company software programs.
Counts, weighs, measures, or examines packaging and contents of items for conformance to company specifications.
Compares items packed with customer's order and other identifying data.
Reads shipping orders to determine quantity and type of transportation needed.
Contacts carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for loading products.
Annotates shipping orders to facilitate loading and time of arrival of transportation.
Performs clerical tasks such as typing and keeping files.
Prepares requisitions, orders, or other documents for purchasing or requisitioning new or additional stock items.
Conducts activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current.
Inspects physical condition of warehouse and equipment. Performs cleaning duties pertaining to work area and warehouses.
Participates in personnel safety and plant protection activities.
