Position Requirements

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED required, supplemented by training in heavy equipment operation, construction management, or a related field; supplemented by three years of experience supervising road construction and maintenance or in construction project management; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must possess and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with an acceptable driving history.
  • Must have three years of experience supervising road construction and maintenance or in construction project management.

Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

  • Supervises and oversees daily functions of the Field Operations division.
  • Evaluates work demands, assigns and supervises work of subordinates engaged in locating, inspecting, repairing, constructing, and maintaining the infrastructure system.
  • Determines personnel, materials, and equipment needs and participates in budget preparation.
  • Writes requisitions, generates purchase orders, and tracks material usage.
  • Prepares records and reports.
  • Keeps abreast of federal, state, and local regulations related to infrastructure repairs and workers.
  • · Operates or uses various construction equipment and power tools to complete work assignments.

 

Additional Functions

  • Performs other related duties as required.

Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert medium physical effort in light to medium work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of medium weight (10 - 50 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.

Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals. Tasks require the ability to communicate orally.

Environmental Factors: Essential functions are sometimes performed with exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
