Program Assistant - (Per Diem)

Seeking to hire a Per Diem Program Assistant for the Adoption House Program in Union County, NJ

  • Provides supervised visitation for parents and their children who have been placed in foster care to decrease the amount of time children spend in out-of-home placement and move families toward permanent placement, either with biological family or in an adoptive home.
  • Assists and/or takes on case management responsibilities, such as collateral phone calls, coordination process etc.
  • Facilitates weekly supervised visitation sessions; provides a safe and welcoming environment for each visitation session and ensures adequate supervision and individualized support for all visitation sessions.
  • Creates therapeutic and supportive environments by providing a variety of structured, age-appropriate activities designed to facilitate parent-child interaction.
  • Assures children in out-of-home placements visit with their parents regularly/weekly and facilitates weekly supervised visitation sessions for families with case plans of reunification and/or Termination of Parental Rights/Adoption.
  • Educates and encourages parents to assume parenting tasks and teaches parenting skills by role modeling and offering positive reinforcement.
  • Assists parents in working through their emotions of surrendering their children for those with case plans of adoption and addresses parenting, grief and separation issues and provide psycho-education, feedback and interventions as needed.
  • Adheres to safety protocols and specific program transportation protocols and provides round- trip transportation to children for all visitation to decrease the number of cancelled visits.
  • Facilitates sibling visitation sessions and provides opportunity for siblings to maintain their relationships and build healthy attachments.
  • Assists siblings with addressing feelings of loss, grief or rejection and promote healthy self-esteem
  • Collaborates and facilitates meetings with outside service providers (i.e. individual therapists
  • Child Advocate Caseworkers, and extended family members to ensure the goals for the family are attainable and achieved.
 
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or other behavioral health discipline from an accredited college or university, with documented knowledge of and at least one (1) year work experience with children and adolescent populations.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and must be insurable under Agency's automobile insurance policy
