Description

Fifth Group Restaurants is seeking a creative, results-oriented Director of Marketing & Communications to lead and manage a team that is responsible for the conceptualization and execution of marketing programs and activities that drive revenue for all our brands in FGR.

This position requires a big-picture thinker, with an active voice, who can develop and implement multi-brand strategies. The director must have poise, a strong sense of style and design, and an understanding of the high-energy hospitality world.

The Director of Marketing & Communications will guide our brand strategy; manage our marketing calendar; create, execute, and implement brand promotions and events; collaborate with and support our restaurant and catering managers; and oversee our guest experience through our website, loyalty program, third party channels and social media.

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing all marketing functions to meet and exceed the revenue, expense management, and profitability objectives. Through the development of an annual marketing plan, this position will allocate resources to the most appropriate investments to maximize revenue of our different businesses. They are fully aware of the competition's marketing efforts at all times as well as the needs of our target markets.

Key Responsibilities:

The Director of Marketing & Communication responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and execute marketing strategy and implement tactical plans in support of the organization's vision/mission and business plan.

  • Drive product positioning and messaging that differentiates our concepts and locations in the market; cultivate product brand personas that enhance and align with FGR's overall brand image and goals.

  • Drive product positioning and messaging that differentiates our concepts and locations in the market as it relates to sales tools needed for catering, design and group dining sales efforts.

  • Manage content on all company channels and partner with IT to develop channel enhancement roadmap. Includes - owned (OLO, OpenTable, etc) and third party (DoorDash, UberEats, etc)

  • Strategic and creative development for all corporate, restaurant and catering brands (PR, event marketing, online/digital, social media, gift cards, private dining, etc.)

  • Strategic and creative development of employer branding marketing and recruiting plans.

  • Create and maintain a 12 month calendar representing marketing activities, promotions and events for each concept in the organization's portfolio of all business units including individual local restaurant marketing plans that drive sales and build community awareness.

  • Create, manage and maximize the annual marketing budgets (advertising, promotions, printing, PR, contributions, SEM, Open Table,etc.).

  • Evolve/build the creative brand platform of existing concepts and new concepts-including adherence/development of brand standards.

  • Direct and manage public relations agency to build FGR brand as well as individual concept brand awareness in various markets and support new restaurant openings.

  • Maintain existing relationships, as well as initiate new ones, with organizations that directly affect the company's business.

  • Maintain existing relationships, as well as initiate new ones, with media including food, lifestyle and business writers in traditional media, social media and bloggers.

  • Work with owners, directors and outside relationships regarding community and philanthropic initiatives.

  • Build a strong marketing and creative internal and external team through selecting, developing and retaining top talent; including performance management. Coach, mentor, role model - raise the team's ability to deliver and exceed expectations. Drive a brand/guest driven marketing culture.

  • Oversee content creation and strategies for social media across multiple platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.).

  • Evaluate advertising opportunities and create ads when appropriate.

  • Develop unique campaigns for brands using CRM tools (Net Mason, Open Table) that allow publishing via email, direct mail or social media.

  • Direct and update content for website(s), as well as website design as needed.

  • Partner with Directors, GM's and cross functional leaders to promote an effectively operating matrix organization and maximize marketing and promotions capability.

  • Oversee gift card sales and promotional initiatives internally and with third party vendors.

  • Engage and manage external resources including agencies and vendor partners.

  • Collaborate with Partners, Directors and cross functional leaders to effectively craft and distribute any necessary internal communication.

Position Requirements

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 10+ years in a marketing leadership role with direct reports and creative responsibility

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing preferred

  • Restaurant/Hospitality industry a huge plus but not required

  • Proven track record leading, producing and managing content for social/digital media platforms including analytics and reporting

  • Experience leading/managing a portfolio of brands

  • Social Management Systems - Sprout Social or Hootsuite

  • Social marketing advertising experience

  • Sales process enablement experience (Catering, Design and Group Dining)

  • Proficiency with the following strongly preferred:

    • Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop required)

    • Microsoft Office Suite

    • Sharepoint

    • WoodPress

    • BentoBox

    • Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Instagram, Pinterest, and YouTube (analytics/advertising)

    • Facebook Ad Manager

    • Google Adwords

    • Google Analytics

    • Email platform (preferably Emma or something comparable like MailChimp)

    • SEO/SEM

    • HTML

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Executive level communication skills - written, verbal and presentation

  • Hands-on leader with the ability to engage and influence

  • Strong strategic, analytical and organizational skills

  • Results driven with proven ability to manage multiple priorities with competing timelines

  • Proven ability to set and communicate a clear vision and bring strategy to life

  • Social media savvy; understand how to use social media to drive sales and brand awareness, including social media advertising

  • Experience with targeted email campaigns, loyalty programs and CRM usage

  • Ability to develop marketing plans (corporate, brand and local level)

  • Intellectual horsepower and curiosity

  • Experience in conducting, leading or managing quantitative and qualitative research

  • Strong communication skills and proven track record of managing teams and agencies

  • Design eye for collateral development with ability to direct creative team to produce outstanding engaging materials that represent FGR brands

  • Significant business and stakeholder relationship building experience

  • Responsiveness to change and leads as a change agent

  • Highly resourceful

  • Flexible and resilient

  • Experience developing and managing a marketing plan and budget

  • Strong guest management and interaction skills

  • Ability to work as part of a team and to work independently; a self-initiator, versatile and assumes risk with responsibility
