Position Credentialing Coordinator/Physician Coder  

The position is responsible for using specialized codes and diagnostic information to ensure physician and provider claims are billed and paid accurately by the Revenue Cycle staff. The position administers the physician and nurse practitioner enrollment and credentialing applications process. The position is responsible for preparing and submitting credentialing applications and supporting documentation for the purpose of enrolling individual physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician/clinic groups/hospital with payers.

Position Requirements


High school diploma or equivalent. If not registered must have medical records training for two to three years with demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.


Preferred but not required: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS). Must provide documentation of current certification for personnel records.


Experience preferred but must have training as coder and abstractor.

Special Knowledge

Thorough knowledge of classification and nomenclature, anatomy, medical terminology and medical records procedures and practices. Understanding of ICD-9-CM and CPT-4.
