Share Email Opening Title Coder - Physician Practice (GLPP Coding), FT, 1st  Location Joint Township District Memorial Hospital   Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time   Working Shift 1st   Hours Per Week 40   Description Under the general direction of the Chief of Information Services (or designated assistant), this specialist is responsible for accurate coding of all outpatient and inpatient (if applicable) services, working from the appropriate documentation in the medical record of the patient. Classification systems for code assignment include ICD and CPT as well as other specialty systems as required by diagnostic and procedural category. Specialist must be aware of and compliant with current billing rules and legislative regulations that impact correct coding. Must be able to work independently. All work is carried out in accordance with the Work Areas approved policies and procedures   Position Requirements Education: Associates degree in accounting, business administration or equivalent or High school graduate with a minimum of two years working in a physician billing office environment with coding knowledge. The specialist must have training in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Licensure: The specialist preferably possesses a CCA-Certified Coding Associate or CCS-P Certified Coding Specialist-Physician Based Experience: The specialist should possess in-depth knowledge of medical record content and coding/classification systems appropriate for outpatient and inpatient specifically ICD AND CPT. Minimum 2 years experience in medical office billing or collections.
