Essential Functions: - Develop new accounts by studying market trends and creating action plans by specific market segment. Split accounts and region with Assistant Director of Sales.
- Promote awareness and updated information to group related accounts and channels.
- Keep close communication with all DMCs, third party contacts, and leverage relationships with Leading and Preferred.
- Work closely with conference services and catering through execution of definite program.
- Respond to all leads quickly and follow up.
- Enter all pertinent information and maintain a clean database on accounts in Delphi and Opera for local and mainland business.
- Keep Commercial Director and Assistant Director of Sales informed for all leads and for mainland clients coming to the islands.
- Will work with assistants to be sure they have all applicable information on the site documents to disseminate to departments.
- Handle all group and site inspections, hosting and entertaining clients with potential business. Provide a report after the site inspection or meeting.
- Handle all VIPs and keep historical information on each visit in Opera and meet with visiting suppliers.
- Work with the Commercial Director and the Marketing Department to provide strategy and marketing assistance.
- Help arrange for customized/personalized “touch points” with other departments for VIP bookings.
- Provide a weekly/monthly reports as assigned.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities: - Report all suspicious persons or activities and hazardous or unsafe conditions to the Security Department.
- Provide instruction and/or guidance for guest and employee safety in fire or other emergency situations.
- Respond to guest questions. Provide guest assistance, direction and information as requested when working in public areas.
- Perform a variety of other duties as assigned.
Education/Training Requirements: - High School Diploma or General Education Diploma required.
- Associates or Bachelors degree in business management preferred.
Experience/Skill Requirements: - Minimum of five (5) years of group sales experience, preferably in the luxury resort segment.
- One (1) year catering experience required.
- One (1) year outside sales experience preferred.
- Previous experience in a first-class, medium to large resort preferred.
Licenses/Certifications: - Certification of tuberculosis clearance required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- CPR and Standard First Aid Certification preferred.
Mental Capacity & Organizational Skill Requirements: - Ability to pay attention to detail, work in a fast paced environment, handle multiple tasks and have high levels of patience and organization.
- Ability to access, understand and accurately input information using moderately complex computer systems utilizing software such as Delphi, Opera, Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to operate various office equipment such as, but not limited to, computer system, photocopying machine, telephone, facsimile and blackberry.
- Ability to type a minimum of 40 wpm.
Communication Requirements: - Excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
