The Registered Dietitian's daily responsibilities are as follows, but are not limited to:

  1. Nutritional Care Responsibilities:
  2. Ensures physician's orders are followed making recommendations for changes as needed
  3. Completes nutritional assessments, MDSs, CAAs and care plans using PCC the electronic health record system
  4. Provides routine and change of condition progress notes in the patients' medical records
  5. Participates with the interdisciplinary team concerning patients' plan of care during care conferences
  6. Checks patients' progress toward meeting nutritional goals and determines effectiveness of nutritional care plan; documents outcome in progress notes and adjusts care plans as needed
  7. Visits patients regarding menus, food service, food preferences and nutritional care
  8. Uses and keeps patient information current in Dietary eKardex

Systems Responsibilities:

  1. Maintains and uses Dietary eKardex, the electronic system for patient food, nutrition and dining information dietary information and tray card and nourishment label printing
  2. Utilizes Point Click Care and other center electronic systems appropriately

Communication Responsibilities:

  1. Works collaboratively with the food service director in communicating information about patient care and provision of food and nutrition services
  2. Communicates with nursing service, physicians, physician extenders, dietary personnel, patients, families and other disciplines concerning patient nutritional care

Education Requirements:

Bachelors degree or other advanced degree in dietetics Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration,
the credentialing agency of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics; and license or certification by the state where
he/she practices, if required.


Experience:
At least two years experience in long-term care, preferred

Description

ProMedica Senior Care, formerly HCR ManorCare, provides a range of services, including skilled nursing care, assisted living, post-acute medical and rehabilitation care, hospice care, home health care and rehabilitation therapy.

The Registered Dietitian coordinates nutritional care of patients by completing nutritional assessments, developing and implementing care plans and documenting dietary information about patients. Provides guidance and collaborates with the Food Service Director in the provision of food and nutrition services.
