Family Support Events Coordinator 

About the Organization For over 70 years, The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region has helped people with intellectual and developmental disabilities build better lives one person at a time. We provide support services and advocacy to 400 adults and children and their families in Harford and Cecil Counties. The Arc supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to create lives that mirror yours and mine: students attending neighborhood schools, adults going to work and living in their own homes, and individuals enjoying the social and recreational opportunities in their communities. We are a private, non-profit local chapter of The Arc of Maryland and The Arc of The United States, the largest volunteer organization in the world devoted exclusively to improving the quality of life for all adults and children with developmental disabilities.

Description

Position Summary:

This position will be responsible for implementation and development of varying events/activities for the families and individuals with differing abilities and administrative support to program staff under the direct supervision of the Family Supports Navigator.

Position Duties & Responsibilities:

In a manner consistent with supporting The Arc NCR Mission Statement the Family Support Program Recruiter and Events Coordinator shall do the following:

Quality Support

  • Responds to incoming communications/inquiries (emails, phone calls, letters, or unannounced visits) from Family Support program recipients and community members.
  • Develops, schedules, and promotes information sessions, educational series, and activities at a variety of times for families and individuals with differing abilities in the community.
  • Represents The Arc NCR and FSS at resource fairs, vendor fairs, and local community resource events.
  • Develops programs or collaborates with other County Partners to host events/activities for families in Harford & Cecil Counties, to include camp Sp'Arc.
  • Works collaboratively with other departments and Volunteer Coordinator to identify and recruit volunteers to support activities and events and supervises at event.
  • Promotes FSS in the community.
  • Collaborates with all departments of The Arc NCR to offer supports to families and people seeking services.

Quality Team Members

  • Provides effective administrative support to FSS program. Writes and edits letters, reports, meeting minutes, and other documents, and creates and maintains official records, files statistics, and budgets, as requested and appropriate, using word processing, database, spreadsheet, graphics, and communication software.
  • Provides education and resources to families and builds connections in the community.
  • Creates and distributes the monthly FSS newsletter utilizing constant contact.

Financial Excellence

  • Tracks data and statistics on families served.
  • Processes accounts payable requests for Family Support Services activities.
  • Collaborates with Development Department to locate and apply for available programmatic funding for the activities created.

Other duties as assigned.
