Description

SUMMARY

Oversee all processing and processing parameters involved with new samples, work with manufacturing to diagnose production problems, and support Engineering functions assigned by the Process Engineering Manager by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Follows all IATF16949 Procedures and Work Instructions in the performance of these duties.

Define material and processing sequences that most efficiently produce a product by meeting all customer requirements, demonstrate 2.0 Cp process capabilities and avoid all 8 forms of lean waste.

Troubleshoot and fix situations when processes indicate lack of control to get us back on track using established standards. Scrap, rework and extra processing all require action and solutions.

Seek out improvement opportunities to established processes. These can include lean tools and techniques, process equipment upgrades, best practice sharing and innovative solutions that improve output and quality.

Studies customer specifications, engineering blueprints, and confers with the design group, as well as Quality Engineers to develop the processing parameters data for process instructions.

Oversees or participates in the first run of new samples on the production floor. Develop original process specifications and approve revisions. Assist with the development of the process flow, control plan and PFMEA.

Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, raw materials, mathematics, tooling materials, and other physical sciences to diagnose production problems.

Responsible for investigating and implementing corrective actions involving process related problems.

Responsible for developing or reviewing and approving revisions to tool designs, processing parameters and operational sequences.

Responsible for coordinating FMEA's, when required by IATF16949 or Customer Specific requirements

Communicate with Suppliers and/or Customers as required, and be available for trips to their facilities.

Work with other engineering and quality functions in a team environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum of Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Computer knowledge and experience is required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, powdered metal dust, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud on the production floor and moderate in Engineering.
