SUMMARY

Quality Control Technician plays a critical role in the function and effectiveness of the Quality Management System and supports all levels of the quality department

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Follows all ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 Procedures and Work Instructions in the performance of the following duties:

  • Calibration of measurement equipment and maintaining documentation within PLEX, ensuring calibration procedures are current and meet the requirements of IATF 16949
  • Obtain quotes and submit purchase orders for measuring equipment needs as well as monitoring ISO 17025 certifications to ensure they are current and up to date
  • Assist in-process inspector with monitoring in-process production and approving finished product by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement inspections, communicating required adjustments to appropriate area personnel, and documenting inspection results in PLEX
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
  • Monitors and implements the use of quality procedures as required by ISO and IATF standards
  • Assist with creating and updating documents and procedures as necessary
  • Communicate with and develop suppliers, issue and track progress of corrective action requests, and complete supplier audits when assigned
  • Assist with effective completion of corrective actions
  • Collect data for capability studies as assigned in support of product launches (PPAP), internal testing and development, continuous improvement projects, and customer issues
  • Set up and analyze Gage R&R and assist with data collection when necessary
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities as assigned
  • Perform internal and layered process audits according to schedule to verify effectiveness of the Quality Management System
  • Monitor and disposition nonconforming material and provide reports to management, lead Material Review Board (MRB) meetings
  • Verify any sorted or reworked product as a result of nonconformance disposition
  • Promote a continuous improvement culture by being actively present on the floor and communicating with operators as well as identifying areas and processes to be considered for continual improvement
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships across the organization
  • Assist with training as assigned
 
Position Requirements

SKILLS NECESSARY

  • Use of Calipers, Micrometers, and Various Other Hand Gages
  • Experience with CMM and Vision Systems
  • Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Blueprint Reading
  • Strong Understanding of GD&T
  • Willingness to learn CMM programming
  • GR&R
  • SPC
  • PPAP
  • Plex ERP System (preferred but not necessary)
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949
  • Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis Techniques
  • Proactive Mentality

  • Strong Communication Skills (Verbal and Written)

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum of high school diploma, 2 years in manufacturing environment, and 1 year experience in quality control. Experience with using an automated CMM and/or vision system is a plus. Must have the ability to work in a team environment, as well as multi-task.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as rates, percentages, and sums. Ability to apply concepts of basic arithmetic and algebra.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must hold a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate in the office area and loud in the manufacturing area. Appropriate PPE must be worn where required.
