Accountant II, Fixed Assets 

Location City of Griffin  

The fixed asset accountant performs various functions in ensuring effective maintenance of an organization’s fixed assets and depreciation schedules to support of the city’s financial accounting functions. Essential duties include:

  • Processes monthly motor pool billing and reconciles to general ledger; manages vehicle titles; ensures accuracy and proper filing.
  • Processes semi-annual bond payments.
  • Maintains Automated Clearing House files; transfer files to banking institution; uploads and maintains records of processed payments.
  • Processes invoices and recurring monthly bills for payment; informs departmental contacts of charges applied to budgets.
  • Processes inventory-related journal entries; reconciles balances.
  • Processes hotel/motel tax journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Coordinates fuel allocation operations.
  • Coordinates fixed asset accounting and depreciation.
  • Assists with monthly and year-end closing procedures.
  • Processes cost allocation journal entries.
Position Requirements
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Knowledge of the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) chart of accounts.
  • Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Skill in interpreting and applying a variety of local, state and federal regulations.
  • Skill in researching complex issues and forming appropriate opinions.
  • Skill in preparing reports and communicating information clearly and effectively.
  • Skill in managing and prioritizing multiple projects.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Associates Degree in related field to include completion of introductory acccounting courses.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred in Accounting or related field.

Hourly Rate of Pay Minimum hourly rate of pay $18.09 with competitive benefits package and generous pension plan.
