About the Organization Easterseals Louisiana (ESL) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to change the way the world defines and views disabilities by making profound, positive differences in people's lives everyday. Established in 1951, our organization supports over 8,600 individuals (whom we refer to as Participants) with a variety of disabilities. A leading provider of disability services, ESL has physical locations in 8 regions of Louisiana and our array of programs include; support coordination (case management) for children, adults and elderly participants, a wide range of behavioral health and housing services, early intervention services for infants and toddlers, and a school setting called The Chartwell Center in New Orleans.

Because we support so many participants with a range of needs, we have learned that disability looks different for everyone, and it is our goal to help our participants thrive and live their lives to their fullest potential. Mission & Vision:

The Chartwell Center became a program of Easterseals Louisiana in 2021.Easterseals Louisiana is a non-profit organization whose mission is to assist children and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities achieve independence. It is our vision to be recognized as an organization that transforms communities and engages all members through quality service, knowledge, and compassion. The purpose of Chartwell is to aid individuals with autism spectrum and related disorders by providing educational services and therapy, and by offering training and support to parents, teacher, and other professionals. Founded in 1999 by concerned and dedicated parents, the school’s goal is to help its students not only survive but thrive in the outside world.

HIRING BONUS -This position also includes a $500 sign on bonus! $200 at hire, $150 after 60 days, $150 after 120 days, Must be hired from 5/24 to 6/24, this only applies to Interventionist and ABA Therapist that are in Region 1 (The Chartwell Center). Must be employed at time of pay out and if you leave prior to the full payout, the signing bonus will be deducted from your last paycheck

Job Description (include, but are not limited to):

The Chartwell Special Education Teacher collaborates with the School Director and her team to meet the academic and behavioral needs of our students. They work as a team to improve the lives of children on the spectrum.

(include, but are not limited to)

  • Model the school’s values and core beliefs
  • Set and work toward ambitious behavioral and academic goals
  • Implement curriculum designed by our BCBA and Special Education Coordinator
  • Use feedback from supervision to implement curricular and treatment changes and to improve effectiveness of teaching
  • Meet weekly with team members to discuss current plans, barriers to progress, and potential solutions for increasing progress and guaranteeing treatment integrity
  • Deliver community-based instruction
  • Actively participate in professional development and extracurricular activities
  • Proactively manage student behavior according to shared team expectations
  • Engage families and community members in the learning process
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to implement and reinforce all components of a consistently positive, creative and solutions-oriented school culture
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • A commitment to fulfill the school’s mission and vision
  • A passion for helping children and adults with learning differences
  • Experience working with children and/or adults with autism
  • Familiarity with lesson design and implementation
  • The desire to be part of a true Professional Learning Community
  • Flexibility, patience, perception and empathy
  • A “Can-Do” attitude
  • A strong desire to increase instructional efficacy by receiving and implementing feedback
  • An unwavering commitment to help each of our young learners excel behaviorally, academically, emotionally and socially
  • Easterseals Louisiana is a Drug-Free Workplace, pre-employment and random drug tests will be administered.
  • Will be required to pass Easterseals Louisiana’s background check

Salary:$28,500
