Summary of Functions:

The Director of Slots is responsible for the overall operation, planning, and administration of the slot floor and all slots gaming activity. The Director of Slots plans and oversees slot operations including supervising and providing leadership to shift managers, supervisors, slot representatives, and technicians, and ensuring that all guests receive fast, friendly, and efficient service.

Accountability:

This position reports directly to the General Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Director of slots is typically responsible for repair, tracking, and knowledge base in the slot department and on the casino floor. Slot Supervisor will assist, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading equipment.
  • Ensure slot machine performance through preventative maintenance and evaluation of reports on machine performance.
  • Knowledge of casino rules, procedures and regulations pertaining to Slot operations.
  • Ability to understand and use complex computer programs input data with the ability to formulate and communicate ideas.
  • Overall responsibility for proper monitoring of systems, programming, back-up and usage of Casino equipment.
  • Knowledge of all Tribal, State and Federal regulations governing slot machines and their operation.
  • Maintains current knowledge of gaming regulations under Tribal Internal Control Standards (TICS) Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS) and policy and procedures.
  • Reports irregularities, suspicious behavior or safety concerns to the General Manager.
  • Implementing the protection and loss prevention philosophies of the General Manager.
  • Ensures internal control procedures and structures to safeguard company assets.
  • Assist with analyzing machine and gaming performance on a weekly, monthly and yearly basis.
  • Provide quality assistance on all new installations, construction, maintenance, and help correct any deficiencies that are recognized.
  • Provides input to General Manager and department heads concerning operational deficiencies and areas in need of attention.
  • Conducts investigations into the resolution of variances to ensure compliance with property policies and employee integrity levels.
  • Requires confidentiality at all times while handling company information.
  • Required to answer cell phone for business calls on a 24 hour schedule.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence and to speak effectively to the public, employees and guests.
  • Ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
  • Attend meetings when requested.
  • Duties, responsibilities, requirements and expectations pertaining to this job are subject to change as needed. Hours are determined by 24-hour schedule.
  • Self motivated and ability to work independently.
  • Initiate and maintain a professional work environment while communicating with subordinates, co-workers, management, guests, vendors and other departments while on duty.
  • Position may require working nights, weekends and holidays as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

As directed by General Manager, directly supervises employees assigned to the EGD Department, which includes subordinate supervisors. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and issuing written performance evaluations; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 
Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelors degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university and 3 years or more of Slot Supervisors level (Shift Manger or higher) or 6 or more years of Slot experience in which 2 years must have been as a Slot Supervisor or higher or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with department heads, associates and the public.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of general business administration including personnel practices and employment laws, program budgeting, general accounting, financial analysis, staffing and fiscal management practices.
  • Working knowledge of Windows, Excel, Word and other computer software.
  • Skill in effectively, communicating information through verbal and written correspondence to employees, managers, clients, customers, and the general public, including writing reports, business correspondence and procedural manuals.
  • Prepare complex reports, charts, layouts, forms, and instructions.
  • Work with mathematical concepts such as probability, fractions, percentages and ratios to practical solutions.
  • Have the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Successfully solving practical problems and dealing with situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Work nights, weekends and holidays as required.
  • Knowledge of a 24-hour, 7 day a week operation.
  • Employment is contingent upon a favorable outcome of a background investigation.

Certificates, Licenses, Regulations:

• Key gaming license from the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribal Gaming Agency.

• Washington State Driver’s License

Physical Demands:

• Frequently involves sedentary work: exerting up to 10 pounds of force and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

• Occasionally involves light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force and/or up to 10 pounds of force and/or negligible amount of force to move objects.

• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

• Occasionally requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time.

• Occasionally requires raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally.

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to tobacco smoke, moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Travel Requirement:

Local travel is occasionally required. Travel outside of the state is infrequently required. Typical travel time is generally less than a week.
