Position Account Manager in Training  
Description

Position summary
The Account Manager in Training is responsible for learning to sell the business's products.

Essential tasks of the position
• Perform assigned duties, under direction of experienced personnel, to gain knowledge and experience required for transition to an Account Manager position.
• Attend and participate in Account Manager Training Program under supervision of the Sales Development Manager to obtain an understanding and functional knowledge of the Account Manager role. Receive systems, process, product and sales training as defined in the program.
• Observe experienced Account Managers to acquire knowledge of sales call types and selling techniques tips.
• Participate in training exercises including, but not limited to, Sales Training, Product Training, Computer Training, and Operations Training.
• While under supervision of the Sales Development and/or Regional Sales Manager, learn how to effectively communicate, influence, and interact with all types of customers and Principals. The focus in this phase of the training is on proper sales techniques, problem solving and consulting style sales approaches. Conduct face-to-face client meetings, with the support of your manager, learning to gather pertinent information and educate clients about fundamental business issues.
• Learn to analyze clients' purchasing information to understand buying trends. Maintain and actively service existing customers assigned to a specific sales region by performing various duties including areas such as product quotation and problem resolution.
• Capture new business opportunities within current customers through numerous strategies, such as new product introduction, or Opportunity Management utilizing our proprietary CRM.
• Learn to understand territory gross profit reports and analyze sales trends using Microsoft Excel.
• Build business contacts by contacting and meeting with warm referrals, develop new business, and maintain current relationships.
• Learn to develop and assist in sales plans, sales strategy, and documenting sales activities through visit reports.
• Read and understand technical and non-technical documents as they relate to the sales of and contracts for the company's products.
• Above all, the primary responsibility is to learn how to generate sales for Palmer Holland.
Quality:
Activities of the position affect quality including quality objectives. Responsibilities and authorities include where appropriate:
• Initiating action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process or quality system, up to and including when necessary stopping production to correct quality problems.
• Identifying and recording any problems relating to the product, process and quality system.
• Document problem, steps taken for resolution and preventative action in CRM software and notify all parties required.
• Initiating, recommending or providing solutions through designated channels.
• Verifying the implementation of solutions in areas under your control.
• Control further processing, delivery or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
• Perform duties and tasks as prescribed in company policies, procedures and work instructions.

Requirements:

Education: Four year degree or equivalent in a field applicable to our associated industries.

Locate: Must be willing to relocate.

Experience: N/A

Knowledge/Skills:
• Knowledge and understanding of sales.
• Ability to interface with both technical and nontechnical personnel.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Intermediate level of expertise in MS Office and Contact Management Software
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
• Ability to maintain professional conduct that exemplifies the corporate policies at all times, particularly when interacting directly with internal and external customers
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion
• Exhibit a ‘Learners Attitude†by being open and willing to expand knowledge and expertise

Training:
• Assessment techniques of examining, questioning, evaluating and reporting sales.
