Senior Logistics Engineer 

Description

PURPOSE

Provide guidance and support for Dedicated Transportation product lines through the design, modeling, pricing and operational execution for the most economical and feasible method which meets customer, driver and USA Truck expectations.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensure each project is economical to the margin goals of USA Truck
  • Coordinate and cooperate with sales, operations and finance to achieve the solutions provided to each project to convert bids into awards
  • Identify the functional and physical characteristics of each project by designing, modeling and pricing the project
  • Document processes and procedures to be used as best practices for the process of dedicated project management “cradle to grave”
  • Communicate each design and pricing to the internal and external stakeholders to further communicate our flawless startup and execution of the project for customer confidence and credibility delivering form, fit and functional requirements
  • Adapt continual improvement processes to learn from each project and apply improvements to each project moving forward
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in supply chain
  • 5+ years of experience in Dedicated Operations or Engineering/Solutions Design
  • 2+ years of experience in process design and improvement
  • Prior successful experience in a logistical engineering environment (analytics of large data sets)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or industry equivalent

 

Preferred Skills

  • 2+ providing solutions to complex transportation/supply chain opportunities
  • 1+ years of experience pricing complex transportation networks
  • Able to understand and communicate supply chain management from carrier and customer perspective
  • Ability to interpret data and place in form for presentations of customer solutions
  • Able to develop a team atmosphere working with sales, operations, and other functional departments
  • Ability to deliver exceptional service through positive engagement and patience
  • Ability to work in a team environment to continuously improve results
  • Able to promote a culture of trust and safety

 

Working conditions

This position will be required to work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, and, with or without reasonable accommodation is required to:

  • Remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • Frequently operate a computer for extended periods of time and regularly operate other office productivity machines.
  • Occasionally ascend/descend stairs and move up to 20 pounds of office objects.
  • Frequently communicate with peers, supervisors, third parties, and other employees to exchange accurate information and answer questions.
  • Occasionally attend meetings in buildings outside corporate office and at off-site locations with various internal conditions, and requiring travel in various external conditions.
  • Travel domestically as necessary.
