GENERAL PURPOSE

Under the general supervision of the Controller, this position is responsible for computing, classifying, recording, and verifying numerical data for use in maintaining accounting records by performing the following duties.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is an at-will administrative position within the Home Office. The position is responsible for assisting Turning Point’s fiscal department with issuing payment to colleagues, vendors and community partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)

  • Responsible for timely and accurate recording and payment of invoices, rents and other payables of the company.
  • Codes invoices for input to financial data processing system according to company procedures.
  • Performs check writing and related coding.
  • Maintains accurate records and controls consistent with acceptable accounting principles.
  • Completes paperwork as assigned in a timely manner.
  • Is personally responsible and held accountable for work hours and time management as coordinated with the Supervisor.                                                                              
  • Provides support to other staff members as needed.
  • Attends staff meetings unless approval for non-attendance is secured from the Controller.

  • Adheres to and upholds the policies and procedures of Turning Point Community Programs.
  • Meets the standards set for performance in all aspects of job duties.
  • Meets the standard for consistent attendance (not more than a 5% absence rate per month) by reporting to every scheduled shift on time and ready to work and by the judicious use of paid sick leave and avoiding any situations resulting in the need to dock pay for time not worked.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

 Compensation: $24.00 per hour

 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES

Education, Training and Experience:

A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is through graduation from an accredited High School or GED program and five (5) years of varied experience with accounting practices including accounts payable, receivable, general ledger, etc.

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:

  • California driver’s license & current vehicle insurance/registration
  • Reliable means of transportation capable of passing vehicle safety inspection if more than five years old excluding all modes of two-wheeled transport inclusive of bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles.
