Carr. Burten, Bell, Carr Development, Inc. has been empowering residents and revitalizing blighted and underserved communities in Cleveland's Central and Kinsman neighborhoods since 1990. BBC has now extended its service area to include the Buckeye-Shaker Square and Buckeye-Woodhill neighborhoods.  
Description

Job Summary

The Community Outreach Coordinator will work to build community trust by establishing and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships through the coordination of community development services. This individual will meet regularly with partners and residents to foster stakeholder input, support stakeholder-led initiatives, and link stakeholders with appropriate BBC staff members, and or other appropriate agencies, for programmatic assistance. To be successful in this role, you should be a self-starter and be able to work independently or in a team environment.

Essential Functions

.

  • Mobilize diverse community stakeholders in addressing neighborhood challenges.

  • Manage neighborhood steering committee meetings, resident ambassador group meetings, programs, and projects.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders.

  • Supporting local merchants and connecting them to resources.

  • Respond to public and community inquiries and brief BBC staff on matters of public interest and concern (including visual inspections when necessary).

  • Serve as first point of contact for interested community members, developers, and elected officials seeking to engage the neighborhoods

  • Provide oral and written reference services and information assistance to the community at large.

  • Develop outreach materials and distribution strategies to ensure regular communication with stakeholders.

  • Maintains a filing and tracking system covering disseminated information, referrals, requests, and complaints.

  • Other duties as assigned; including but not limited to supporting community meetings and events.

 
Position Requirements
  • Five years of experience working with the public, preferably within a governmental or nonprofit agency, holding a minimum of an undergraduate degree in public administration, urban planning or related field.

  • Demonstrable strategic thinking abilities and process driven work ethic.

  • Detail oriented, analytical multitasker who can solve problems by formulating practical, measurable solutions.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to foster open communication within and among diverse groups.

  • Friendly, empathetic, and engaging personality with confidence to interact face to face with stakeholders.

  • Possess a strong knowledge of social media and other basic marketing platforms.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook Excel) and the use of standard office equipment.

  • Commitment to the City and residents with a passion for social change through community empowerment.

  • Cultural competency to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds across boundaries of class, race and issue.

  • Experience managing community groups and projects, meeting facilitation, community relations, community organizing, team building, and group dynamics.

 
Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time  
Location BBC Buckeye Office  
Compensation Starting at $45,000.00 annually. Full-time, exempt position with Health/Vision/Dental/Life Insurance & 401k matching.
